Warships Collection of Paintings

The Sixth USS Boston:  (CA-69) , a Baltimore-class cruiser was built in 1943. Heavily armed and well armored, she also carried two spotter planes and catapults. She served in both WWII and the Vietnam War. The cruiser was mothballed in 1946. After modifications in the mid 1950s she was reclassified Boston CAG-1 and brought back into service.

In this painting, the ship is displayed off Truk on the 30th of April 1944 ably defending herself from enemy air attack. She has just scored a direct hit on a Japanese torpedo bomber.
